Perplexity Now Has Access to Apple Device Health Data to Answer Medical Questions
AI company Perplexity today launched a new feature set "PerplexityHealth," allowing its service to access personal health data with user authorization through a series of health data connectors. Perplexity states that this feature aims to integrate health information scattered across various portals, applications, and devices, track multiple biomarkers over the long term, analyze trends, and present them visually through personalized dashboards.

When users ask health-related questions, Perplexity Health can generate answers by combining electronic medical records, lab results, and data collected from wearable devices. Coupled with the company's AI agent tool "Perplexity Computer," related agents can also generate customized fitness plans, nutritional programs, and more based on individual health status. Currently, Perplexity Health is first available to Pro and Max subscribers in the US on the Computer end.
It is reported that the medical information sources used by Perplexity Health include "high-quality medical literature" such as clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed journals. The company has also established a "Perplexity Health Advisory Board" consisting of doctors, researchers, and digital health technology experts to review and "stress test" product decisions, content quality, and clinical safety protection measures based on evidence-based medicine standards.
In terms of data access, Perplexity Health has already supported integration with Apple Health, allowing it to integrate data from Apple Watch and data entered into the Apple Health app. In addition, the service is also compatible with device platforms such as Fitbit, Ultrahuman, and Withings, and can connect to electronic health records from more than 1.7 million healthcare institutions; integration support for Oura and Function will be launched subsequently.
Perplexity emphasizes that all health data is encrypted and stored with strict access control mechanisms, and users can manage or delete relevant information at any time. The company also promises that health data will not be used to train AI models or sold to third parties.
It is worth mentioning that Perplexity is the second AI company after OpenAI to integrate with Apple Health. Previously, OpenAI had already announced the launch of ChatGPT Health with Apple Health support in early 2026.
