Drone Operator Suspended for Lifting Person with Agricultural Drone

An investigation revealed that operator Zheng某, in December 2025, illegally used an agricultural drone to transport a person up a mountain in a citrus orchard in Fengjie County, Chongqing. The ground personnel were lifted to a height of over 10 meters, creating a significant safety hazard.

According to the "Interim Regulations on the Flight Management of Unmanned Aircraft," agricultural drones are specifically intended for agricultural production activities such as forestry, animal husbandry, and fisheries.

DJI’s agricultural courses repeatedly emphasize that agricultural drones should be operated safely and cautiously. If a certificate holder uses an agricultural drone to engage in activities that endanger public safety or the personal and property safety of themselves or others, the issuing authority has the right to revoke the certificate or refuse to renew it.

DJI stated that it is revoking Zheng某’s agricultural drone operation certificate based on certificate management rules and that he will be prohibited from reapplying for one year.

DJI reminds that agricultural drones are specifically for agricultural production in forestry, animal husbandry, and fisheries and must not be used for illegal, violating, or dangerous activities:

1. Endangering Public Safety

Taking off an agricultural drone in densely populated areas and flying it over people;

Using an agricultural drone to carry or lift people;

And other behaviors prohibited by law that endanger public safety.

2. Endangering the Personal and Property Safety of Oneself and Others

Using an agricultural drone to lift people or engage in other dangerous behaviors;

Using an agricultural drone to intentionally damage the property of others or endanger their personal safety;

This also includes other forms of intentional, dangerous behavior.
