BYD Plans to Join European Automobile Manufacturers' Association, Aiming to Be First Chinese Member
According to Bloomberg, BYD is in talks to join a European automotive lobbying group, which would give it a voice in Europe as it faces potential tariffs on electric vehicle imports. A spokesperson for the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) confirmed to Bloomberg that BYD has applied to join the association. The spokesperson also stated that a decision on BYD's membership has not yet been made.
If successful, BYD would become the first Chinese automaker to join the organization. Website information shows that ACEA currently has 17 members, including American Ford Motor Company and Japanese Honda Motor Company.
Currently, BYD is expanding into the European market. Company executives previously stated that they will have approximately 1000 sales outlets in Europe by the end of 2025, and plan to double that number by the end of 2026. In addition, BYD is also building factories in countries such as Hungary.
