Dark Cherry to be the Main New Color for iPhone 18 Pro, Orange to be Completely Replaced
According to the latest foreign media reports, Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro series will see a significant adjustment in body color options, with a red hue called "Dark Cherry" being considered this year's flagship signature color, while the previously controversial "Cosmic Orange" will be discontinued.

The report, citing sources, claims that Apple appears to have abandoned further attempts at bold orange schemes on Pro models, instead opting for a more subdued and textured dark cherry red as one of the key promotional colors for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. British tech media Macworld claims to have obtained a complete color list allegedly from the supply chain, which mentions that the iPhone 18 Pro series will offer four colors: Dark Cherry, Light Blue, Dark Gray, and Silver.
Overall, this color list is broadly consistent with previous rumors about the iPhone 18 Pro focusing on red hues, but the latest reports indicate that Apple ultimately retained only one dark cherry red option in the red scheme, rather than multiple different shades of red. In addition, the silver version is described as being similar to the silver version of the current iPhone 17 Pro, while the light blue is described as being similar to the "Mist Blue" color of the current iPhone 17.
Analysts believe that Apple's strategy for Pro model colors still revolves around "identifiability" and "distinction": on the one hand, it will continue to use silver and other traditional basic colors to satisfy users who prefer a low-key style; on the other hand, the annual flagship new color will take on the role of "identifying new and old models from a distance," helping consumers quickly recognize the latest flagship models in social settings. Therefore, while it is not ruled out that the Pro models will continue to use some of the colors of the basic iPhone 17, Apple's greater consideration is still to provide enough "bragging capital" for the top-end models.
It is worth noting that Dark Cherry is not the first time it has appeared in the Apple ecosystem. As early as November 2025, Apple had quietly launched a batch of Dark Cherry-colored accessories on its official website and in physical stores, including chargers, data cables, and protective cases, and these accessories were supplied by multiple third-party manufacturers, but the color calibration was highly unified, which was considered the result of Apple's unified color specification. At that time, some industry insiders speculated that Apple might be preparing for the launch of a main hardware model with the same color scheme.
However, looking at the current situation, that batch of Dark Cherry accessories from that year is now running low on Apple's official website. The report points out that apart from a USB-C charging cable still on sale, most of the same-colored accessories are no longer listed, and the reason is still unclear, whether the suppliers have proactively withdrawn or Apple intends to streamline the product line, there is currently no public information to explain. The remaining USB-C charging cable is available in two different specifications, with a starting price of $50.
If the above-mentioned revelations about the iPhone 18 Pro color scheme are ultimately true, then from the continuous controversy surrounding "Cosmic Orange" to Dark Cherry gradually taking over the role of "annual signature color," Apple's adjustments to its color strategy for high-end models will once again be a major topic of focus at the new product launch conference. Currently, the relevant information remains at the supply chain and media exposure level, and Apple has not yet made any official response to the body color of the iPhone 18 Pro series.
