Broken Small Clip Requires Entire Battery Pack Replacement Costing 130,000 Yuan – New Energy Vehicle Owner Devastated
According to blogger “Automotive Person 10,” a new energy vehicle owner in Hangzhou had a plastic clip connecting the battery pack to the wheel arch break after driving over a raised paving stone in a parking lot just one month after purchasing the car.

Due to the clip being an integral part of the battery pack structure, the manufacturer refused to repair the clip individually, citing “IP68 sealing integrity cannot be restored” and “integrated design,” and insisted on replacing the entire pack, quoting a price of 130,000 yuan, nearly half the price of the car!
However, the clip itself is made of high-temperature resistant PPS plastic, and the retail price for the same specification on e-commerce platforms is only about 89 yuan, a stark contrast to the 130,000 yuan repair cost.
The insurance company considered a full payout of 130,000 yuan for the battery pack to be excessive, and since the battery pack itself had no performance issues, they were unwilling to cover the full replacement cost. However, the electric vehicle manufacturer insisted on a “non-divisible battery pack assembly requiring complete replacement” repair plan, refusing to repair the clip individually.
Ultimately, the vehicle was declared a total loss, and the insurance company paid out the vehicle’s value. However, the owner’s self-installed accessories, such as window tinting costing nearly 10,000 yuan, were not compensated, leaving the owner feeling utterly devastated.
