Knock-off "GT Racing" Game Forced to Change Name by Sony
Recently, we reported on a game called "GranCarismo" set to launch as Sony cracks down on poorly made, low-quality games being listed on the PS Store. Now, it appears Sony's legal team has issued a warning to publisher AppwillCompany, and the game has been forced to change its name to reduce its similarity to "Gran Turismo."
The game, which officially launched earlier this month, has now been renamed "Grand Car Racing."
This renaming requirement was not extended to other platforms; the game remains listed as "Gran Carismo" on the Steam and Nintendo eShop stores.
This renaming was likely rushed: although the game's name has been updated in the PS Store, the store tile's artwork has not been updated accordingly and still displays the old name.
While a bit of a mess, the issue has been somewhat resolved.
