Valve Proton Compatibility Layer 11.0 Major Version Released: Linux Game Performance Significantly Improved Based on Wine 11
Valve has officially released Proton 11.0 Beta 1, the first public test version of the next major version of the SteamPlay compatibility layer. The new version resets the underlying foundation to Wine 11.0 and upgrades multiple core components, bringing substantial improvements to game running on the Linux platform.

Proton 11 Beta 1 adds a batch of officially verified playable games, including "Unknown Face," "Gothic 1 Classic Edition," "X-Plane 12," "Dragon Warrior 4," and "Fatal Premonition."
Many games previously only adapted in Proton Experimental have also been officially included, covering DCS World Steam Edition, "Resident Evil" and "Resident Evil 2," "Dino Crisis" and "Dino Crisis 2," "Ashes," "Metal Gear Survive," "Warhammer: Vermintide 2," "Metal Fatigue," and "Shogun 2: Total War."
In terms of component updates, Valve upgraded DXVK to 2.7.1, DXVK-NVAPI to 0.9.1, Wine Mono to 11.0.0, vkd3d to code based on version 1.19, and vkd3d-proton to the build version of April 10th.
At the same time, Proton 11 Beta 1 also adds support for SteamWorks SDK 1.64 and FEX-2604 for the ARM64EC architecture.
In addition, Valve stated that the new version solves the problem of many EA games being unable to run after recent updates on the EA desktop, and also fixes the Steam overlay failures in these games.
Other fixes involve "Red Desert," "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach," "Hell Let Loose 2," "No Man's Sky VR," "Microsoft Flight Simulator VR," "Final Combat," "Happy Factory," "Lonely Sea," and "Phasmophobia."
