Red Flag Ends Race Early: Zhang Xue Motorcycle's Valentin Debise Finishes 7th in Dutch WorldSSP Race
The second race of the WorldSSP class at the 2026 WSBK Dutch Round concluded at the Assen circuit, with Zhang Xue Motorcycle rider #53 Valentin Debise finishing 7th on the 820RR-RS, successfully scoring points. The race began with challenges, as Debise started from 10th due to a penalty in the final lap of the first race. Combined with rain before the race, making the track slippery, it posed a significant challenge for riders to control and overtake, increasing the uncertainty of the race.
After the start of the race, Debise demonstrated strong adaptability and control skills, steadily advancing and completing overtakes on the slippery track.
He successfully moved into 7th place by the 4th lap, and then maintained a stable pace, flexibly adjusting between 5th and 7th positions, even reaching 5th at one point, showcasing strong competitiveness.
However, with 6 laps remaining, an unexpected incident occurred on the track when rider #37 crashed, and the race officials immediately displayed the red flag.
According to the rules, as the race had completed 2/3 of the total distance, the race officials decided to terminate the race early, with the final standings based on the order at the time the red flag was shown. Debise ultimately finished 7th.
At this Dutch Round, Zhang Xue Motorcycle competed at the Assen circuit for the first time, finishing 4th in the first race and 7th in the second race, scoring points in both races, demonstrating the team's strong capabilities with a stable performance, and accumulating valuable experience for future events.
