"Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2" Receives LGBT Nomination, Director Responds: "No 'Wokeness'"
According to foreign media PCGamer, "Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2" has received two nominations at the 2026 Gaming Awards: the game itself is nominated for "Viewer's Choice Award," and the character Hans is nominated for "Best LGBTQ Character." Former Creative Director Daniel Vavra, now making films, responded on X platform, saying he is "very proud" of the relationship between Henry and Hans.

Vavra stated: "I firmly believe we got it just right – not forced, naturally presented, and with educational value (we showed the reality of the Middle Ages, without idealizing it)." He emphasized that the game depicts a romantic relationship between two knights, but does not forcefully indoctrinate or attempt to "educate" players like many projects labeled as "woke."
Vavra said: "We satisfied the LGBTQ+ community and gave them the right to choose to be themselves, just like other quests in the game. Those players who aren't interested in this will likely not even notice it." He also added that while adding this storyline was his idea and decision, it doesn't mean he is satisfied with the rampant forced indoctrination of "wokeness" content in the industry.
Vavra's stance has always been controversial. Since the first game, he has openly supported the Gamergate movement, making him a figurehead for some right-wing players. With the appearance of a relationship between two men in the second game, some of this audience turned against him.
Despite the ongoing controversy, "Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2" remains a solid and well-written RPG, and the storyline between Henry and Hans has received widespread recognition.
