Details Revealed of "Father of Call of Duty" Vince Zampella's Fatal Car Accident
Renowned game producer, co-founder of the "Call of Duty" series, and co-founder of "Apex Legends" developer Respawn, Vince Zampella, tragically passed away in a car accident north of Los Angeles on December 21, 2025, at the age of 55.
The accident occurred on Angeles Crest Highway in the San Gabriel Mountains. Recently, foreign media outlet TMZ reported details of the accident.
According to reports, Zampella was driving a 2026 Ferrari 296 GTS when the vehicle veered off the road after exiting a tunnel, crashing at high speed into a concrete barrier and immediately catching fire. One passenger in the car was ejected and died at the scene; Zampella also died after being trapped inside the vehicle.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office recently revealed that Zampella's cause of death was burns and smoke inhalation from being trapped in the car, accompanied by blunt force trauma. The death has been officially ruled an accident. Video of the accident shows the Ferrari losing control at the tunnel exit, sliding towards the guardrail and immediately catching fire, with obvious brake marks on the road surface. The investigation suggests that speeding may have been one of the causes of the accident.
