All-New 7 Series and Long-Wheelbase iX3/i3: BMW Globally Launches Three Next-Generation Models
BMW Group today held a global launch event in Beijing, officially unveiling three heavyweight next-generation models: the all-new BMW 7 Series, the next-generation long-wheelbase BMW iX3, and the next-generation long-wheelbase BMW i3. BMW Group Chairman Oliver Zipse stated that by combining globally leading technology platforms with localized solutions developed around Chinese customer needs through China-exclusive long-wheelbase models, BMW creates luxury products that balance global standards with local experiences.
The three new vehicles continue BMW's iconic design language while incorporating next-generation technological expression. The next-generation long-wheelbase iX3 and i3 evolve the BMW kidney grille, originating from the BMW 1500, into a 3D illuminated grille, and upgrade the classic "angel eyes" to "digital angel wings," paired with a slightly concave "shark nose," presenting a posture of "dynamic stillness."
Radar, cameras, and other intelligent driving perception systems are all hidden behind the integrated light group, without disrupting the overall aesthetic of the vehicle body. Both medium-sized pure electric models achieve an ultra-long wheelbase of over 3 meters, bringing spacious rear passenger space; they also adopt new national standard-compliant electric + mechanical integrated semi-hidden door handles, balancing design and safety.
The all-new BMW 7 Series establishes a flagship presence with its "vertically upright and horizontally stable" proportions. The more vertical kidney grille strengthens the visual center, and the split headlights naturally integrate with the intake area; the new crystal daytime running lights are embedded with 24 individually dynamically illuminated crystal units, creating a distinct layered light and shadow effect. The sides and rear continue a simple and complete design logic, while offering over 500 exterior paint combinations to meet users' personalized needs.
All three models are equipped with the BMW Panoramic iDrive system, constructing an interactive layout centered around the "visual cone," composed of a 3D head-up display, horizon panoramic display, spoke sports steering wheel, and a curved central control screen, minimizing driver eye movement.
The intelligent cockpit is deeply adapted to Chinese user habits: equipped with the next-generation BMW AI Personal Assistant based on Alibaba's AI large language model and DeepSeek technology, integrating multiple AI agents such as "Encyclopedia Expert," "Car Use Expert," and "Travel Companion," supporting natural language interaction to complete high-frequency needs such as vehicle control and route finding; equipped with BMW customized Gaode Maps, the industry's first integration of navigation and driving assistance interfaces into the 3D head-up display; and also supports digital keys, HiCar connectivity, and the My BMW App ecosystem developed based on Huawei HarmonyOS NEXT.
In terms of intelligent driving, all three models are equipped with an L2-level pilot driving assistance system jointly developed with Momenta, specifically designed for China's complex traffic environment, covering urban, highway, and parking scenarios, achieving "nationwide drivability." The system has a smooth braking and stopping experience without sensation, and can continuously iterate functions through remote OTA updates, with all data processing strictly complying with Chinese laws and regulations.
The next-generation long-wheelbase iX3 and i3 are equipped with the sixth-generation BMW eDrive electric drive system, combined with a large cylindrical battery pack and an all-domain 800-volt architecture, achieving a comprehensive leap in range and charging efficiency. Among them, the next-generation BMW iX3 long-wheelbase version breaks 900 kilometers in CLTC comprehensive range, and the next-generation BMW i3 long-wheelbase version breaks 1000 kilometers in CLTC comprehensive range, both becoming one of the longest-range pure electric models in the same class.
In terms of charging, both models have a maximum charging power of 400 kilowatts, and can replenish approximately 400 kilometers of range in 10 minutes under CLTC conditions. Relying on BMW's self-developed "Driving Brain" and dynamic performance control software, the vehicle can complete the coordinated dispatch of power and vehicle stability in milliseconds, and 98% of driving scenarios can be completed with braking through energy recovery, significantly improving the overall vehicle efficiency.
The all-new all-electric BMW i7 also features revolutionary large cylindrical battery technology, with a CLTC range of nearly 800 kilometers. In terms of chassis, the new 7 Series will also be equipped with Magic Carpet intelligent air suspension and integral active steering system.
The all-new BMW 7 Series adds a passenger entertainment screen based on the Panoramic iDrive for the first time, forming a three-screen linkage with the curved central control screen and the 31.3-inch floating giant screen in the rear. The cabin is equipped with light rhyme trim, hidden when extinguished and presenting a wavy 3D light and shadow effect when lit; paired with Bowers & Wilkins Diamond 4D sound system and Dolby Atmos, extending the acoustic experience from hearing to physical perception.
In addition, the new 7 Series also brings more than 50 China-exclusive digital functions, balancing business and family use scenarios. The new generation of AI-driven driving assistance system further enhances the intelligent travel safety and convenience of the flagship model.
