Douyin: Governing Typical Violations Such as Using AI Technology to Infringe on Celebrities' Portraits
On April 23rd, Douyin officially released an announcement: Recently, regarding the use of AI technology to perform face-swapping, infringe on celebrities' portraits, use AI to generate, publish, and disseminate content that infringes on others' intellectual property, create and spread malicious parodies of portraits, and impersonate others to gain popularity, the platform has launched a special governance action.
As of now, the platform has removed over 538,000 AI infringing videos and penalized over 4,000 violating accounts for typical violations such as AI portrait parody, AI copyright infringement, AI impersonation to gain popularity, and AI infringement-based livestreaming. At the same time, the platform has dealt with over 30,000 inappropriate contents that mislead and induce elderly people to interact using the "AI President" image, and over 1,300 accounts.
Specifically, the platform has focused on cracking down on infringing acts that use AI technology for face-swapping, portrait or voice theft, generating content that is ugly, parodies, or impersonates others to gain popularity, and producing and disseminating misleading content. Currently, over 360,000 AI impersonation videos have been removed, 85,000 pieces of AI portrait and AI voice infringing content have been dealt with, and graduated penalties such as prohibiting submissions and banning account privileges have been imposed on some seriously violating accounts.
