Musk Biography Author Isaacson: Tesla and SpaceX Will Eventually Merge
Walter Isaacson, author of a biography on Elon Musk, recently stated firmly that he believes Tesla and SpaceX will ultimately merge. This assessment aligns with recent market analysis, highlighting the increasingly close connection between Musk's two core assets.

Currently, the two companies have already engaged in deep binding at the capital and technology levels. Tesla spent $2 billion this quarter to purchase SpaceX shares, a rare cross-company capital flow. At the same time, both sides are planning to jointly build a chip manufacturing facility named "TERAFAB" in Texas to support their respective AI computing power needs, which is seen as a key step in business integration.
Wedbush analyst Dan Ives previously predicted that the two companies could complete the merger in 2027. He believes the move aims to build a vertically integrated AI ecosystem, combining Tesla's autonomous driving and robotics technology with SpaceX's satellite network and space data centers, creating powerful synergy.
However, the road to merger is not smooth. Significant valuation differences could expose Tesla shareholders to the risk of equity dilution, and such a large-scale merger will inevitably trigger strict scrutiny from global antitrust regulators. Nevertheless, as the boundaries between the two companies accelerate, investors seem to be shifting their bets from individual companies to Musk himself and his grand vision for the future.
