Starting May 19th, the Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-Speed Rail will pilot a bicycle carriage service between Beijing North and Chongli stations. According to the plan of the National Railway Group, the integration of railways and tourism will be further deepened in 2026. Relevant departments plan to operate more than 2,500 tourist trains throughout the year and carefully create more than 50 high-quality tourist routes, making the railway network a convenient link connecting major scenic spots.
To stimulate the tourism market, the railway department has also launched a series of benefit measures for the people. From the end of April to the end of June, 179 special tourist trains will be launched successively, and railway tourism consumption vouchers will be distributed during April and May, providing real subsidies to reduce travel costs for passengers.
Specifically for the elderly, the railway department has also prepared exclusive benefits. From May 30th to June 30th, Chinese citizens aged 60 and over can enjoy discounts on fares when traveling on some high-speed train sets during weekdays, encouraging more seniors to travel during off-peak hours.
