Multiple DDR5 Memory Kits See Significant Price Drops in Japan, Some as High as 22%
According to AKIBAPC, multiple DDR5 memory kits in the Japanese market experienced noticeable price reductions in mid-April, with some products dropping by as much as 22%. Specifically, a 32GB (16GBx2) DDR5-5600 kit is now priced at 47,980 yen (approximately 2,057 yuan), down from a long-held price near 60,000 yen, a decrease of about 20%.
A 64GB (32GBx2) DDR5-4800 memory kit has fallen below 80,000 yen for the first time in nearly four months, down approximately 21.8% from last month's price. 64GB kits with DDR5-5600, 6000, and 6400 specifications have also seen price reductions of around 10%, but most remain above 80,000 yen.
High-frequency models are also seeing some movement, with the Kingston Fury 16GBx2 DDR5-7200 kit currently priced at 58,980 yen, a 16% decrease.
However, current prices are still several times higher than the same period last year. For example, a 32GB DDR5 kit cost only about a quarter of the current price last year.
SO-DIMM laptop memory and DDR4 memory are also at recent lows, but the market is volatile, and prices have repeatedly rebounded quickly within days of previous drops.
Globally, 64GB DDR5 memory kits are still priced high in most regions. Japan's price reductions are an exception, and it remains unknown how long this price drop will last.
