Estimated Global Console Sales for March 2026: Nintendo Switch 2 is the Best-Selling
According to estimates from VGChartz, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be the best-selling game console globally in March 2026, with sales of 1,765,356 units, bringing its cumulative total to 18.93 million units.
PlayStation 5 ranks second in sales, with an estimated 1,043,314 units sold that month, and a cumulative total of 92.08 million units. The original Nintendo Switch ranks third, with an estimated 217,621 units sold that month, and a cumulative total of 154.38 million units. Xbox Series X|S is in fourth place, with monthly sales of 140,798 units and a cumulative total of 34.57 million units.
Switch 2's sales increased by nearly 792,000 units compared to the original Switch's sales in the same month in 2018—the original Switch sold 973,830 units in March 2018.
PS5 sales decreased by over 77,000 units compared to PS4 sales in the same month in 2019; Xbox Series X|S sales decreased by over 287,000 units compared to Xbox One sales in the same month. PS4 sales in March 2019 were 1,120,732 units, and Xbox One sales were 428,062 units during the same period.
Compared to the same period last year, PlayStation 5 sales decreased by 33,612 units, a decrease of 3.2%; Xbox Series X|S sales decreased by 152,169 units, a decrease of 51.9%; and the original Nintendo Switch sales decreased by 293,878 units, a decrease of 57.5%.
Looking at month-over-month data, Nintendo Switch 2 sales increased by nearly 954,000 units, PlayStation 5 sales increased by over 203,000 units, Xbox Series X|S sales increased by over 7,000 units, and the original Nintendo Switch sales increased by nearly 23,000 units.
From the beginning of 2026 to date, the Nintendo Switch 2 has cumulative sales of 3.34 million units, PlayStation 5 has cumulative sales of 2.64 million units, the original Nintendo Switch has cumulative sales of 590,000 units, and Xbox Series X|S has cumulative sales of 390,000 units.
