Xiaohongshu Releases AI Governance Rules Announcement: Strict Control of AI Violations, AI Fabrication, and Other Behaviors
Today, Xiaohongshu released an announcement regarding its AI governance rules. Xiaohongshu stated, "AI makes creation more efficient, but also makes fabrication easier. Impersonating real people, mass-producing content, and infringing on the originality of others – these behaviors erode the community trust earned by everyone who creates content with sincerity. Xiaohongshu is officially releasing AI content governance rules, clearly defining the platform's stance and management boundaries. Sincere creators deserve to be seen and protected."
Regarding "AI Content Labeling," Xiaohongshu stated, "The platform encourages creators to accurately label AI content. Whether it is completely generated by AI or re-created with AI refinement, it is recommended to proactively declare it upon publication. For AI content that is not proactively labeled, the platform will uniformly add a label after identification; at the same time, a complaint channel will be launched for creators to raise objections to the labeling results."
Regarding "AI Creation Directions Encouraged by the Platform," Xiaohongshu stated that the platform welcomes creators to use AI as a creative tool to improve content quality and information value, specifically encouraging the following directions:
AI Visual Creation: Artistic illustrations and paintings with distinctive styles, or cinematic short videos with narrative logic and emotional orientation;
AI Character Creation: Creators' original virtual characters, or derivative creations based on existing IPs with clear highlights;
AI Knowledge Popularization: Visualized popular science content on complex knowledge, AI music creation, and AI creation tutorials with added information.
Regarding "Prohibited AI Violations by the Platform," Xiaohongshu stated that it will strictly control the following behaviors that violate community norms using AI technology:
AI Violation of Operation: Using AI tools to automatically operate accounts, impersonate real people for interaction, or teach methods for rewriting content with AI and circumventing audits;
AI Fabrication: Cloning others' voices or faces, using false personas for promotion, fabricating experiences and screenshots, or creating false images and videos involving public events;
AI Infringement: Generating identifiable portraits of others without authorization, or imitating visually, literary, or musically copyrighted works;
AI Low Quality: Using templates to mass-produce homogenized content, attracting attention with sensational images, or spreading extreme and negative values.
For the above violations, the platform will take tiered measures such as restricting distribution and banning accounts based on the severity of the situation. In addition, content involving illegal activities, pornography, and other safety bottom lines will be subject to the original community rules, regardless of whether it is generated by AI, and the platform will strictly control it.
Xiaohongshu stated, "The platform will continue to build its ability to identify and govern AI content, and work with every sincere creator to jointly protect the community's authentic, fair, and warm content environment."
