Leaked Model Reveals Samsung May Launch a Wider-Form Factor Foldable Phone, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide
Samsung is reportedly developing a wider-form factor foldable phone expected to debut later this year, and the latest leaks may offer an early look at the product's outline. Leaker and journalist SonnyDickson recently shared a set of images on social media of what are claimed to be models of Samsung's next-generation Galaxy foldable phones, including a model called "Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide." The exposed images show the device adopts a body design similar to a passport ratio, which is believed to directly target the Huawei Pura X Max, and Apple's long-rumored foldable phone.

From the leaked models, the rear camera module of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide may adopt a dual-camera setup, a reduction compared to the triple-camera configuration commonly found in Samsung's existing Z Fold models. At the same time, a prominent circular structure appeared in all three exposed models, which is interpreted as potentially supporting Qi2 wireless charging. If true, this would be the first time this feature has been configured in Samsung's mobile product line. This change also means that the Z Fold 8 Wide is expected to be more directly comparable to the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, which supports Qi2, and the Huawei Pura X Max, which was just released in the Chinese market last week and became the first truly commercially available wide-form factor foldable phone.
Dickson also stated that the body size of the Z Fold 8 Wide is close to the expected size of a foldable iPhone, which further echoes previous market rumors about the similarity in size between Samsung's wide-format foldable phone and Apple's future foldable phones. However, based on the currently leaked model images alone, it is still difficult for outsiders to obtain more hardware details. At this stage, the greater value of these images lies in allowing people to compare the device with Samsung's existing foldable products side-by-side, thereby more intuitively judging the differences in body proportions and product positioning.
The report also pointed out that the market still needs to wait for Samsung's official release to confirm whether this "Z Fold 8 Wide" will actually enter mass production and launch. Outsiders hope that if this new machine is finally launched, it can avoid repeating the short life cycle of Samsung's previous "three-fold" attempts and gain more sustainable development space in the market.
