"Red Desert" Team Receives 5 Million Won Bonus Each as Global Sales Exceed 5 Million
According to Korean media reports, PearlAbyss's open-world action RPG "Red Desert" has surpassed 5 million units sold globally (across Xbox, PC, and PS5 platforms). The developer distributed a celebratory bonus of 5 million won (approximately 23,200 yuan) to all 733 employees on April 23rd.

Based on the 733 employees mentioned in the developer's 2025 annual business report, the total expenditure exceeds 17 million yuan, a significant sum.
Pearl Abyss CEO stated in an internal letter: “I express my deep respect and gratitude to every colleague who created a product passionately pursued by the world, and I am awarding a celebratory bonus for reaching 5 million sales to all employees diligently fulfilling their duties in their respective positions.”
He also emphasized: “Our journey does not end here, and the potential confirmed today will be the strongest driving force to overcome any future challenges.”
"Red Desert" was announced in 2019, with a development cycle lasting 7 years, and officially released this year. Initial reviews were mixed, but Pearl Abyss quickly addressed core issues such as control schemes and equipment storage through frequent major updates, resulting in a turnaround in reputation.
Currently, the game has an 86% positive rating on Steam (based on 51,616 user reviews), with a peak concurrent player count of 276,261.
