First Phase of Asia's Longest Circular Subway Line to Open Soon, Total Length 59.9 Kilometers
The first phase of Asia's longest circular subway line – Wuhan Metro Line 12 – is about to open. Recently, three distinctive stations on the line – Gongzheng Road Station, Wuchang East Plaza Station, and National Expo Center South Station – were officially unveiled. Line 12 is a key component of the "ring + radial" framework of Wuhan's rail transit network, with a total length of 59.9 kilometers. The first phase starts at Gangdu Garden Station in Qingshan District, passes through Wuchang District, and ends at Mo Shui Hu Park Station in Hanyang District, with a total length of approximately 35.32 kilometers, all underground, and a total of 23 stations.

The line efficiently connects Wuchang and Hanyang through multiple interchange nodes, significantly improving the convenience of cross-regional travel, effectively alleviating traffic pressure on urban expressways such as South Third Ring Road and Youyi Avenue, and further strengthening the overall operational efficiency of the city's rail transit network.
It is reported that Line 12 takes "Dreaming of the River City in a Circle, Enjoying the Subway" as the overall design theme. Standard stations are mainly decorated in the line color "Yangtze Blue," and in areas with high passenger flow, the combination of a "Three Towns Map + Circular Lighting" on the ceiling strengthens the identity of "Same Circle, Same Journey, Same Dream." The three distinctive stations fully integrate the surrounding environment into the decoration design, showcasing the cultural characteristics of the city.
Stepping into Gongzheng Road Station is like entering a flowing painting. The station's decoration design theme is "Colorful Flower Shadows," ingeniously integrating the natural charm of Shahu and East Lake with the commercial vitality of Chuhe Hanjie and Wuhan SKP. The ceiling adopts soft curves and petal-shaped arcs, combined with a large hollow design, creating an immersive experience of "people walking in the scenery, and the scenery moving with people."
It is understood that Metro Line 12 uses Type A fully automatic driverless trains with a maximum operating speed of 80 kilometers per hour. Chen Zhuo, an engineer at Wuhan Metro Shares Co., Ltd., introduced that the trains adopt the most advanced fully automatic driving technology, possess complete independent intellectual property rights, and have a high degree of intelligence.
