Official Report: Silver Particles in Ba Wang Tea Ji Milk Tea Were Added by the Customer
The joint investigation team of Suzhou County, Anhui Province, released an official report regarding the recent online controversy about "mercury found in Ba Wang Tea Ji milk tea." The conclusion is that the foreign objects in the milk tea were added by the purchaser themselves. The involved person has been taken into police custody, and the case is under further investigation.
The incident dates back to April 27th, when a consumer, Ms. Wang (pseudonym), posted on social media claiming she found multiple silver liquid metal particles, suspected to be mercury, in a milk tea purchased from a Ba Wang Tea Ji store in Wanda Plaza, Dangshan County.
She claimed to have felt an abnormality while drinking and that the particles could roll in her hand. She then negotiated with the store and called the police, and also complained to the market supervision department.
After the incident fermented, the local authorities quickly established a joint investigation team composed of the county market supervision bureau, the public security bureau, and other departments to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the store involved.
Law enforcement officers sealed the beverages, raw materials, and equipment involved, retrieved full-chain monitoring videos, and sent samples of the foreign objects for testing.
After a comprehensive investigation and verification, the official confirmed that the raw materials, production equipment, and operating procedures of the store involved were all normal, and there was no source of mercury.
Combining surveillance video, forensic evidence, and the questioning records of the parties involved, it was ultimately determined that the silver granular foreign objects in the milk tea were added by the purchaser, Ms. Wang, after she purchased the drink.
