Listed Price of $21.378 Billion: China Southern Airlines Plans to Purchase 137 Airbus A320neo Aircraft
China Southern Airlines announced that the company and its controlling subsidiary XiamenAir have signed agreements with Airbus to purchase 102 A320NEO series aircraft and 35 A320NEO series aircraft, respectively. The list price for the 102 A320NEO series aircraft is approximately $15.818 billion, and the list price for the 35 A320NEO series aircraft is approximately $5.560 billion, totaling approximately $21.378 billion, or approximately RMB 146.670 billion.
The 102 aircraft are planned to be delivered to China Southern Airlines in batches from 2028 to 2032; the 35 aircraft are planned to be delivered to XiamenAir in batches from 2029 to 2032.
The payment method for both is installment payments: a partial prepayment is paid first, and the remaining balance is paid upon delivery of each aircraft, not a one-time full payment.
This transaction does not constitute a related party transaction or a major asset restructuring and still requires approval from the company's shareholders' meeting and relevant national departments.
The latest performance shows that in the first quarter of 2026, China Southern Airlines achieved operating revenue of 47.782 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.08%. Net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company was 1.481 billion yuan, compared to a loss of 7.47 billion yuan in the same period last year.
