Microsoft to Launch New Surface Devices in Mid-May: Consumer ARM, Business Intel
Microsoft plans to release a new generation of Surface products, including the Surface Pro 12 and Surface Laptop 8, in mid-May, about two months earlier than the previously predicted July by WindowsCentral. The release will continue the strategy of parallel ARM and Intel platforms, with consumer-grade products equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 processor, continuing the ARM architecture route.
The business version (for Business) will be equipped with Intel Panther Lake processors, but consumers can also purchase it.
Multiple Surface devices equipped with Panther Lake processors have already appeared in Geekbench scores, but the Snapdragon X2 version has not yet appeared in the benchmark database.
In terms of product details, the consumer version of the Surface Laptop 8 will be limited to a 13.8-inch size and will offer OLED screen options for the first time.
The business version will be available in 13.8-inch and 15-inch specifications, with the highest configuration equipped with a Core Ultra X7 368H processor. The Surface Pro 12 business version is expected to be the first to support 5G connectivity, which is a first for the Surface Pro series.
Currently, there are still many questions about the new products, including specific pricing, the performance of the ARM version, and the specifications of the OLED screen, which require further confirmation from Microsoft.
