Flight Delayed Over an Hour After Passenger Joked About Having a Bomb Instead of a Power Bank
A flight from Nanning to Guangzhou, CZ3291, was delayed for over an hour, reportedly because a passenger jokingly said they had a bomb instead of a power bank when asked by a flight attendant.
The flight was originally scheduled to depart at 7:15 AM and land at 8:35 AM.
In response to the delay, a staff member at China Southern Airlines’ service hotline stated that flight CZ3291 was originally scheduled to depart at 7:15 AM, but was delayed by a total of 69 minutes due to a public safety incident that extended security check time. The flight taxied at 8:24 AM and landed safely at approximately 9:50 AM.
Staff at Nanning Wuxu Airport also confirmed the flight was delayed, with the actual departure time being 8:37 AM.
A media outlet contacted the Nanning Wuxu Airport Branch to verify the information. A relevant staff member stated that the passenger involved had been taken to the police station for investigation, and the investigating authorities were currently handling the matter, without disclosing further details. It is currently impossible to verify whether the passenger made the comments circulating online.
It is understood that aircraft, as special enclosed spaces, will trigger the highest level of emergency response to any false security threat, causing not only significant economic losses but also endangering public safety and order.
According to the Criminal Law, fabricating false terrorist information such as bomb threats and seriously disrupting social order is punishable by imprisonment of five years or less, detention, or control.
