Recent shipping manifests indicate a large influx of "game consoles" into Valve's US distribution warehouses.
According to the latest shipping manifests obtained by Lynch, Valve has received a "large quantity of game consoles" in the US in recent weeks. These devices are currently being stocked in Valve's US distribution warehouses, indicating the company is preparing for an upcoming large-scale order. The scale and timing of this warehouse restocking are highly similar to the logistics movements prior to the Steam controller release.
Notably, the shipping manifests only label the imported hardware as "game consoles," so it's also possible this shipment is for the Steam Deck handheld. However, there are currently no major shopping events like "Black Friday" or promotional activities, and Valve typically doesn't significantly increase Steam Deck inventory reserves at this time. Another possibility is that this is the timeframe Valve originally planned to ship the Steam Machine, and the company is simply carrying out logistical adjustments according to a predetermined plan, reducing logistics and warehousing costs by storing the hardware in its own warehouses.
