Microsoft Officially States: 32GB of Memory is the Worry-Free Standard for Windows 11, 16GB is Just the Baseline
Microsoft quietly updated its official recommendation for Windows 11 gaming memory configuration in a support document: 16GB remains the baseline, but 32GB is the worry-free choice. This recommendation comes not from the technical department, but directly from Microsoft's marketing department.

Microsoft has not defined 16GB as obsolete, and still positions it as a practical starting point, but 32GB is no longer considered exclusive to enthusiasts, but is being shaped as a more reliable and forward-looking choice.
The reason Microsoft gives is not that games themselves have become more memory-intensive, but rather points to multitasking scenarios: running Discord in the background, multiple browser tabs, streaming tools.
Combined with launchers such as Steam, Epic, or Xbox applications, and various constantly running background services, memory usage will increase rapidly, and the game will ultimately have to compete with all these processes for memory resources.
It is worth noting that the official minimum memory recommendation for Windows 11 remains 8GB. Microsoft wants to convey the message that "16GB is necessary, 32GB is the worry-free zone."
