Notebook Endurance King Emerges: MSI Thin and Light Laptop Breaks Record with 42 Hours
After testing nearly 200 laptops, the MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ achieved a video battery life of 42 hours and 6 minutes, setting a new record in PCMag’s testing history. This result is more than 10 hours longer than the previous record, marking a new milestone in laptop battery technology.

The MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ is equipped with the latest Intel Core Ultra X7 358H processor, 32GB of memory, and a 1TB SSD. It features a 14-inch 1920x1200 OLED touchscreen that supports 360-degree flipping, and weighs approximately 1.27 kilograms.
PCMag’s testing method involves fully charging the laptop and then looping a Blender animation short film at 50% screen brightness (with Wi-Fi turned off) until the battery drops to 5% and automatically goes to sleep.
Previously, Windows laptop video battery life lingered around 20 hours, with only a few MacBooks exceeding 30 hours. However, with the successive release of Qualcomm Snapdragon X, Intel Lunar Lake, and Panther Lake processors, over 25 hours has become commonplace.
In PCMag’s database from 2024 to 2026, six laptops have already achieved battery life exceeding 30 hours, and the shortest score in the top ten is also close to 28 hours.
Three of the top three models use Intel Core Ultra 300 series processors, which have only been on the market for a few months, and there is still room for growth in the future.
However, PCMag also admits that 42 hours was achieved under specific testing conditions. The OLED screen brightness of this MSI model is relatively low, and the actual power consumption is lower at a 50% setting. A 1920x1200 resolution is also more power-efficient than 4K.
According to real-world testing data from media outlets such as Tom's Guide, the actual battery life in mixed-use scenarios (office work, streaming, video conferencing) is approximately 15-20 hours, but it is still among the top levels for current Windows laptops.
