Disney and Hasbro Release Grogu Interactive Toy, Priced Up to $600
With the popularity of the Marvel series "The Mandalorian" and the upcoming release of the standalone film "The Mandalorian & Grogu," Grogu, initially known as "The Child" and affectionately nicknamed Baby Yoda by fans, is now being launched by Disney as a lifelike toy, but the price is shocking: up to $600.

Recently, Disney unveiled "Ultimate Grogu," a brand new interactive Baby Yoda toy. Clearly, Disney is looking to capitalize on the momentum of the standalone film "The Mandalorian & Grogu" and the upcoming Star Wars Day (May 4th).
Disney and Hasbro describe the new "Ultimate Grogu" toy as a "first-of-its-kind" bionic puppet with over 250 "animations and sound effects," and comes equipped with multiple modes and accessories.
Adam Biel, Head of Franchise, Hasbro Disney Consumer Products, said in a press release: “Our goal with Ultimate Grogu was to make fans feel like he’s truly come to life in their world. Our design and development teams spent countless hours studying Grogu from ‘The Mandalorian’ series to perfectly capture his image in a way that embodies the essence of Lucasfilm while showcasing his personality and movements. Through our long-standing collaboration with Disney Consumer Products, we’ve created the most lifelike, interactive, and expressive Grogu that Hasbro has ever built.”
Kotaku editor noted that while he is a die-hard "Star Wars" fan and also likes Yoda, the problem is that the purchasing power of $600 in 2026 is far less than it used to be—the prices of games, computers, gasoline, and food are all rising. “It’s hard to get excited about spending $600 on an interactive ‘Baby Yoda’ that I might play with for a few days and then let gather dust.”
Ultimate Grogu is now available for pre-order at the Hasbro official store, Amazon, and Fan Channel. It will be released in two versions: the standard version will launch in 2027, and a limited-edition special version with unique packaging will launch in 2026.
