Apple Services SVP Eddy Cue Anticipates "F1" Movie Sequel, Plans to Expand Racing Broadcasts
Apple's Senior Vice President of Services, Eddy Cue, expressed his hope and expectation for a sequel to the "F1" movie during an interview with the media at the Miami Grand Prix on May 1st. The Brad Pitt-starring film has become the most-watched film in AppleTV history, generating over $600 million in global box office revenue with an estimated production cost of around $200 million.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed in February that work on a sequel was underway, but Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali previously stated that a sequel would not be released in 2026, strongly suggesting the project is still in the planning stages. Nevertheless, an official confirmation of whether the sequel will actually go into production has not yet been made.
Regarding Apple's plans for broadcasting Formula 1 races, Cue expressed satisfaction with the current performance in the US market. He stated that despite the fact that F1 broadcasting rights are not globally unified, this has not affected Apple's intention to further expand. Cue believes that starting with the "huge market" of the United States is the "right way" to advance the business, while also expressing a desire to expand the streaming service to other regions and markets. Data shows that currently 30% of viewers watching F1 races use the multi-angle viewing feature, which is popular with users.
Cue also specifically mentioned the upcoming leadership change from Tim Cook to John Ternus as Apple's CEO. He believes this change will only strengthen Apple's relationship with F1, as Ternus himself is a Porsche owner and amateur racer, and a "super fan" of F1. Cue revealed that Ternus had originally planned to attend the Miami Grand Prix but was absent due to participating in a race at Laguna Seca, and predicted that the new CEO may attend races more frequently than Cook. Apple is currently the official broadcaster of F1 races in the United States, and its multifaceted layout in motorsports demonstrates the company's long-term commitment to this market.
