WeChat Input Method Tests Air Transfer Function: Supports Cross-Device Instant Transfer of Images and Files
According to user feedback, the iOS and Windows versions of the WeChat Input Method are currently testing a new "Air Transfer" function, further strengthening cross-device file transfer capabilities. It is reported that the original cross-device paste synchronization function has been renamed "Cross-Device Paste Transfer," and "Air Transfer" has been added on top of that.

Before the update
The new function not only supports fast transfer of images and files between multiple devices but also supports face-to-face instant transfer, making the usage more flexible.
After the update
After entering the "Air Transfer" interface, users can either select associated devices to send files or directly transfer files to other users, achieving a more convenient cross-end and near-field sharing experience.
Looking back, the WeChat Input Method was first launched on Android and iOS platforms in December 2022 as "WeChat Keyboard 1.0.0," and was officially renamed WeChat Input Method in June 2023, with continuous version iterations.
In December 2025, the iOS version of WeChat Input Method received a major 3.0 version update, focusing on upgrading voice input capabilities, introducing more advanced large model technology, and achieving significant improvements in recognition accuracy and input speed.
It is worth mentioning that Zhang Xiaolong, Tencent Senior Vice President and President of the WeChat Business Group, once stated that the team's purpose in launching the WeChat Input Method is not to compete with other input method applications for market share, but to better protect user privacy.
Overall, with the addition of functions such as "Air Transfer," the WeChat Input Method is gradually extending from a single input tool to a cross-device collaboration and lightweight file transfer tool.
