After 13 Years, "Call of Duty" Will Finally Stop Launching on PS4 and Xbox One
Yesterday, several foreign media outlets cited rumors reporting that the next "Call of Duty" installment, "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4," would still launch on the old-generation PS4 platform. Today, the official "Call of Duty" Twitter account personally debunked the rumor, stating they don't know where the information originated, but it is definitely false. The next "Call of Duty" game is not being developed for PS4.

Yesterday's reports from foreign media were based on leaks from Twitter user @HeyImAlaix, who claimed that "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4" is undergoing testing on Sony's PS4 platform, leading many media outlets to believe that "Modern Warfare 4" would inevitably also launch on the old-generation PS4.
Foreign media outlet Kotaku pointed out that "Call of Duty" players have long been hoping for the series to break free from the constraints of the previous generation of consoles. The PS4 and Xbox One versions of "Call of Duty" games actually perform poorly, and players have always felt that the old hardware was, to some extent, hindering this annual blockbuster shooting series. Now, players' wishes are finally being realized.
It has been 13 years since the "Call of Duty" series first launched on PS4 and Xbox One platforms, and 6 years since it launched on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms. This is the longest time Activision Blizzard has supported old-generation consoles while transitioning to new-generation platforms.
The only bad news is that millions of players are still using PS4, and these players will have to purchase a new console if they want to continue experiencing the latest installments in the series. Unfortunately, the prices of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S have increased by more than $100 compared to their launch prices.
Due to memory and graphics card shortages, the price of gaming PCs is also soaring. Although Xbox Game Pass recently had a price reduction, the upcoming "Call of Duty" installment will not launch on Game Pass.
